Therapist, MA, LPC

My Approach

I work from a perspective that considers how our early emotional bonds with others impact our relationships today. By exploring these relationship dynamics we can find healing and relearn new ways of interacting with ourselves and with others.

No matter what struggles you are facing today, there is hope for finding healing and freedom in your story. I am happy to walk alongside you as we explore together what this journey toward peace can look like.

Kathryn Still

Reaching out for support in times of personal struggle can be an extreme challenge, often bringing up doubt, fear, and insecurity. But it is also the most critical step you can take toward relief and healing. To help you find that peace in the midst of pain, I create a safe space for my clients founded on unconditional acceptance and understanding of the struggles you face right now in this present moment. Clients who see me are often struggling with relationship issues such as building and maintaining meaningful relationships, anxiety and depression, life transitions brought on by grief and loss, trauma history, identity/worth and value issues, and feelings of discontentment with life the way that it currently is.

What to Expect

When you enter the counseling room, I strive to ensure that you are entering a safe space. This means that you feel accepted for exactly who you are, where you are, without judgement. It is my job to ensure that you feel as comfortable and safe as possible as we explore deep and oftentimes painful parts of your story. All that is required of you is to simply take the next step and show up.

In my office the counseling process is client led, meaning that you set the tone and pace for your therapy journey. I will invite you to establish growth goals that give us an idea of what direction we are headed in. But, as is often the case, the process may reveal new paths and areas of healing along the way.

Incorporating humor and compassion, I desire to help you live out a life that is authentic to who you are. I aim to help you feel seen and heard while also equipping you with tools to take ownership over your life and to ultimately bring about positive, lasting change.

Want to know more about Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT)?

I am trained in EFT which highlights emotion and emotion regulation in helping clients navigate various life struggles. EFT perceives individuals as being hardwired for intimate relationships with others; when we struggle to bond well with others we tend to find ourselves caught up in dysfunctional patterns of interaction. From this attachment based approach, the path toward healing involves a willingness to practice new ways of engaging with the self and with others.
